The saga of 'The Cave Explorers'

The cavers' answer to 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' began its career in the fertile brain of Jim Eyre 'scurrilous' author, and during publication saw Canadian publisher, Peter Thompson, suffer several nervous breakdowns as his bookbinder went bust, two strikes stopped distribution, several copies of the book were impounded by the American customs as obscene and the pound dropped against the dollar.

Once the book reached England where most of the sales were anticipated a court injunction was served preventing further distribution of the book and two High Court hearings were required before the injunction was lifted and the book released six months late, having lost out on much of the pre-publication publicity and sales.

The caving world in general will be pleased to know that the longrunning and expensive legal tussle between K. Kelly (Plaintiff) and J. Eyre (Defendant) is now over, and the dangerous and unpleasant precendent of a High Court trial by jury of cavers' doings and cavers' literature avoided.

Buy your Grannie a copy of 'The Cave Explorers' for Xmas.
